DuPont council compiles 11 priorities and asks staff for focused study sessions

After two days of discussion, the council compiled 11 priorities — from neighborhood roads and sidewalks to economic development, emergency management and recreation — and asked staff to return with focused study‑session options and funding scenarios.
Following staff presentations and council discussion, the facilitator put a working list of 11 priorities before the council: neighborhood road improvements; a sidewalk maintenance program; promotion of city assets; economic development; emergency management; public transportation; nuisance/abandoned vehicles; exploration of fire/EMS structure; recreation facilities and programs; revenue alternatives; and fire/police/public safety.
Each councilor then named their top three priorities. Aggregating those responses showed strong emphasis on recreation and programs, revenue alternatives and public safety, and repeated support for neighborhood roads and sidewalks. Staff committed to scheduling study sessions and producing implementation options and budget scenarios for the council to consider during the 2027 budget process.
Next steps: staff to prepare study‑session materials on the highest‑ranked topics, with clear options, cost estimates and legal implications; council will use those sessions to decide formal actions later in the year.
