Williston gives first readings to four ordinances and approves SRO agreement for 2025–26

The commission approved first readings of four ordinances and a School Resource Officer (SRO) agreement during its March 25 meeting.
City Attorney Jordon Evert presented Ordinance 1161, which would change the penalty for most animal-related offenses to an infraction; Ordinance 1162, which would make certain building-code and junk-ordinance violations infractions with a maximum fine of $1,000; Ordinance 1163, which adds a narrowly tailored exception permitting XWA airport employees to discharge firearms on airport property to meet FAA requirements; and Ordinance 1164, which revises the 48-hour parking language to require a vehicle to move one city block or 600 feet, whichever is less, to reset the clock.
Evert also presented the proposed SRO agreement for the 2025–2026 school year; the agreement preserves the previously noted 75%/25% cost-sharing arrangement. The commission approved the first readings of the four ordinances and the SRO agreement by unanimous vote (5–0).
