Williston approves Sun Country seasonal service deal, CBP equipment and snowplow procurement support

The Williston City Commission on March 25 approved multiple airport-related measures aimed at sustaining and supporting air service at Northwest Regional Airport (XWA).
Airport Director Anthony Dudas presented a proposed seasonal air-service agreement with Sun Country Airlines to resume flights to Las Vegas. The motion approved a minimum revenue guarantee (MRG) for the service with the city’s financial commitment capped at $517,130. Dudas said the agreement aligns with the city’s air-service development program to enhance travel options and support workforce attraction and retention.
The commission also authorized replacement IT equipment estimated at $24,883 required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to maintain operations at XWA’s General Aviation Facility; staff said the facility handles about 450 international flights annually, most from Canada. Finally, the commission approved a Burns & McDonnell task order to manage procurement of a multi-function snow-removal machine; the professional-services fee for that task order is hourly not to exceed $31,450. Staff noted FAA entitlement and ND Aeronautics funding will cover most equipment costs and that the federal procurement rules require fee analysis and oversight.
All airport items passed by unanimous vote.
