Rocco DiRico, associate vice president for government and community relations at Tufts, announced the gift and described the university’s long-standing partnership with the network. “We treasure our partnership with the Medford Family Network,” DiRico said. “Over 400 Tufts families call Medford home, and many have benefited from the programs at the Network.”
Marie Cassidy, who founded the Medford Family Network in 1993, received committee and community praise. Cassidy said the gift and the recognition were overwhelming. “This is unbelievable,” she said, thanking staff and volunteers who have sustained the program for decades.
Mayor Mary Lungo Kern and Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Galusi joined others in thanking Cassidy. The committee took a roll-call vote to accept the donation; the motion, made by Member Reinfeld and seconded by Member Graham, passed 7–0.
The committee said the funds will support the Family Network’s general programming; the vote record did not specify an exact breakdown of how the $50,000 will be allocated.
