The Snohomish County Council voted unanimously Wednesday to confirm Josh Dugan as director of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and approved routine administrative matters.
Nicole Gourley, council staff, told the council that “Snohomish County Charter 3.40 requires appointments to department director positions to be nominated by the executive and confirmed by the county council,” and that the executive had nominated Dugan to fill the vacant director position effective May 11.
A councilor moved to approve Motion 26-203 to confirm Dugan; another member seconded. Council members offered brief praise during discussion. One council member said, “I’m really excited about this pick. I think that Josh is one of the hardest working people here at the county,” and another called attention to Dugan’s long service and “integrity.”
The motion passed 5–0. The council also took a separate vote on Administrative Matters (Motion 26-200), which likewise passed 5–0.
The council recessed for a scheduled public hearing at 10:30 a.m.
