The county formally approved Resolution 26-030 recognizing June 5 as Spring Into Recovery Day. The sponsor noted the event has many resources and tabling organizations and moved the resolution; the motion passed 4 to 0.
Representatives from the Snohomish County Recovery Coalition, including April Provost and Mike Wasmiller, thanked the council and described the event as volunteer-driven with extensive on-site services: peer support, case management, ID cards, hot meals, transportation to detox or inpatient care, mental health support, recovery housing sponsorships and medical/dental services.
"With over 118 registered organizations on-site offering peer support, case management, ID cards, food hot meals, transportation to detox and inpatient directly from said events..." April Provost said, stressing that the event connects individuals to multiple resources in one place.
Organizers asked the council to continue support for collaborative recovery efforts and to prioritize resources that sustain year-round services beyond the single-day event.
The council approved the proclamation and briefly recessed for a photo opportunity.
