Superintendent Dr. Brad Haga presented the budget to the board; Julie Bear, director of finance, reviewed April revenue, expenditures and cash flow figures before the board voted. Earlier in the meeting the board amended the agenda to add a Public Budget Hearing at 6:15 p.m. to solicit input on the 2026–2027 budget.
On a 7–0 vote the board approved the budget (motion by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Ben Adams). The board also approved a one-time bonus of $1,000 for full-time employees and $500 for part-time employees, to be paid June 30, 2026 (motion by Dr. Paul Grinstead, seconded by Mr. Johnson; vote 7–0).
The finance materials approved on the consent agenda show April payroll of $4,605,685.08, current invoices of $1,601,763.47 and other routine fund reports. The board’s action adopts the school division’s FY27 spending plan as presented; specific line-item changes were not discussed in the public record beyond the overview provided by the director of finance.
The board added the public budget hearing to the agenda to gather community comment; the record shows no public speakers at the regular public comment period earlier in the meeting. The board’s next scheduled meeting on May 28, 2026 was also set during the session.
