Board signs off on paving, staff certification and loan payment; tower repairs completed

Capital expense: Staff presented the EMB paving quote for a parking-lot resurfacing job that had previously been budgeted. The quote was $28,952 (the same figure as last year) and the board approved the capital expense by voice vote.
Staff training: The board heard that Kyle Richie completed a condensed certification course in Greenwood, successfully passed the DSM certification test and will be slated next year to pursue WT3 certification to add another certified operator.
Old business and operations: Staff reported maintenance was completed on the 18th Street and Lake water towers after crews drained the lake tower to replace a leaking valve, refilled and tested it, and returned it to service. The plant operator reported normal operations and listed recent digs and repairs at 1102 West 6th Street, 1116 Elm Street, 1129 Monroe and the insertion of an 8-inch valve at the lake tower.
Finance: Staff said the city council signed off on a change to the interfund-loan amortization schedule and, based on the recommendation, the Commonwealth will receive a $100,000 payment on July 1. The board adjourned after the routine business was complete.
Personnel: The board noted that Jill Murray will be on vacation from July 8 to July 15.
