Pelham Manor police report rise in car larcenies, coordinate with neighboring precincts

Police Chief Sancho told the Pelham Manor Board of Trustees on May 26 that April was a busy month for the department and that larcenies from unlocked vehicles are on the rise countywide. He urged residents to lock car doors, remove key fobs and avoid leaving personal belongings in plain view.
Chief Sancho said he reached out to the NYPD 47th Precinct (Deputy Inspector Mohammad Ashraf and Community Affairs Officer Belle) and Captain Anderson Ortiz of the 45th Precinct to coordinate responses to noise complaints and gatherings that often originate outside village boundaries. He also reported recent communication with Mount Vernon Police Chief Olifiers and Memorial Field staff; those contacts produced event schedules and assistance in dispersing problematic car-club gatherings.
Chief Sancho encouraged residents to report noise or suspicious activity to the Police Desk at 914-738-1000. The Board thanked the Police Department for its work.
