Public works staff said the $900,000 transfer repurposes salary savings from vacancies into in‑house roadway, sidewalk and ADA‑ramp improvements; the $3 million supports the broader paving supply account. The department said $1.5 million of the overall program is targeted to traffic calming and in‑house sidewalk work, and that staff will continue using PCI (pavement condition index) data to prioritize segments.
Councillors asked where to find segment‑level PCI lists and an updated traffic‑calming priority list; staff said spreadsheets and the PCI report by segment are available and that a consultant is finalizing the traffic calming priorities. Committee members also discussed coordination with school sidewalk work and upcoming construction season timing.
The two items were approved 7–0. Staff said they will publish segment‑level paving lists and follow up on PCI and sidewalk‑condition materials for councillors.
