The Sheboygan City committee approved a resolution allowing the Finance Department to carry forward budget amounts associated with open purchase orders from 2025 into the 2026 fiscal year.
Finance staff explained that carrying forward open purchase orders is required under city financial policy and state statute; the total listed in the packet is approximately $7.4 million. Staff stressed this is not new money but funding for projects that remain in progress and must be moved into the current-year budget to allow continuations of those contracts.
Councilors had no substantive questions and the committee approved the carry-forward by voice vote. Staff said the detailed listing of open purchase orders appears in the agenda packet and that the practice ensures continuity of multi-year projects until they are completed.
