Operations committee approves veteran parking spot, letters to TDOT and municipal partners; schedules strategic-plan review

At its June 8 meeting, the Anderson County operations committee took several procedural and community-focused actions.
The committee approved a motion, moved by Commissioner Mckame and seconded by Commissioner Joerger, to designate one parking space at the Anderson County Senior Center as a veteran parking spot; the vote was unanimous.
Commissioners also approved sending a letter of appreciation to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and regional officials for prompt slide repairs on Highway 116. The mayor reported outreach from local mayors and suggested drafting a joint letter from municipalities to describe multiple slide locations and request further improvements; commissioners approved drafting that joint letter to TDOT and regional officials.
On internal procedures, commissioners approved developing a commissioners' handbook (rules guide) to orient incoming commissioners. They voted to expand the rules committee membership so that the change will take effect in September, and they scheduled a review of the county strategic plan for September as well (to be considered in Operations before going to the full commission).
The meeting closed with community announcements and adjournment.
