Transportation Director Randy Edwards told the council the town is nearing completion of a resurfacing contract approved in March 2025 and requested a $150,000 change order to pick up additional roads that were previously cut from the contract. Edwards also said Lexington County awarded the town $60,000 in C‑funds specifically for concrete repairs that could be added to the current work.
Edwards described favorable unit rates and strong contractor performance. Council members clarified the provenance of the $60,000 (county C funds sourced from motor fuel taxes) and confirmed council action at this work session was only to place the request on the next formal agenda. The mayor called for the motion; council moved, seconded and approved placing the change order request on the next agenda by hand vote.
