Resident presents petition urging borough to act after recurring Dukane Light outages

Sharon Porscher, a resident of 1529 Williamsburg Place, told the Churchville Borough Council on June 8 that repeated power outages are concentrated in a triangular area of the Dukane Light grid and are disrupting residents’ lives. "Several people have told me specifically they woke up in the middle of the night, couldn't breathe because their CPAP went off," she said, and added that many residents have lost income and experienced other harms when electricity cut out without warning.
Porscher said the petition she brought was collected from affected neighbors in two to three days and has been sent to Dukane Light, state representatives and the Public Utility Commission. She credited Amy Sevelius and family for compiling an outage data log to document the repeated interruptions.
Council members acknowledged the complaint and said they are pressing state legislators and regulators on the issue but urged residents to collect and submit official PUC outage reports for their addresses. A council member said the PUC can provide street‑level outage reports and asked residents to email those records to borough staff so the council can assemble a fact-based case for Dukane Light and regulators.
The council did not take formal action on the petition during the meeting. Next steps reported at the meeting: residents will be asked to obtain PUC outage reports for their addresses and forward them to borough staff; council will continue communications with state legislators and the PUC to seek a remedy.
