Scott Park pavilion renovation delayed; parks director cites weather-related contractor setbacks

A report from Ashley Esper, director of parks and recreation, read at the Milky Way Township General Authority meeting said the Scott Park pavilion renovation is delayed because contractors encountered weather-related setbacks on spring construction projects.

Esper’s update, read aloud by the executive director, said the contractors’ schedules were affected by an unusually wet spring, forcing the township to adjust expectations for the project’s timeline. “While we had anticipated substantial completion during the early summer season, the unusually wet spring has required us to adjust our expectations and project timeline,” the report said. Based on updated schedules, the project team now anticipates completion in late August or early September 2026.

The report noted that pavilion reservations already accepted for the 2026 season will continue to be honored despite the construction delay. Contractors and staff, the report said, remain committed to delivering a high-quality facility improvement for the community.

Separately, the executive director told the board that Millcreek Momentum, the organization working under a signed agreement with the authority, is preparing monthly activity reports and that staff will coordinate a public input session in the coming month to six weeks; details will be shared through authority and township communications channels when scheduled.

The board did not take a vote on the project timeline during the meeting; no new contract awards, change orders, or additional budget figures were recorded in the meeting record.
