The Littleton Select Board voted Tuesday to increase the alarm-box repair revolving fund spending limit from $6,500 to $16,500 and approved several year-end transfers after a joint briefing with the finance committee.
Board members said the alarm-box fund must absorb a $10,000 deductible for a recent fire-alarm repair. The finance committee reported the fund held about $46,207 before charges and estimated several years of remaining capacity for routine monitoring costs. After discussion, the board approved the change to the spending limit.
In related action, the Select Board approved a transfer of $8,320.83 to the assessor's budget to cover upfront costs for an upgrade to the town's CAMA/Patriot assessment software. Finance committee members said the transfer covers one-time conversion costs; ongoing maintenance will remain in the assessor's operating budget.
The board also approved a $10,200 transfer to the Elder and Human Services budget to cover an unanticipated personnel need. Town staff said the transfer will be covered from reserve funds and that departments would manage ongoing costs within their own program budgets after July 1.
Why it matters: The votes move limited, one-time costs out of operating budgets and a revolving fund to avoid year-end shortfalls. The board agreed the changes were within normal year-end financial housekeeping but asked for clearer packet materials and a consolidated revolving-fund report at budget time.
Votes at a glance: The board approved the alarm-box spending limit increase and the two transfers in separate roll-call or voice votes; motions were made, seconded and carried.
What's next: The finance committee will meet on July 9 to vote year-end transfers, and staff said a consolidated revolving-fund report will be prepared for the next budget cycle.
