The St. Francis Area Schools board presented the Saint Star Award to communications supervisor Dax Larson at its June 8, 2026 meeting, praising his contributions to district communication and crisis response.
East Bethel Elementary principal Melissa Kibby and St. Francis Middle School principal Randy Kitchley nominated Larson, emphasizing his work “highlighting the incredible work happening across our school[s] and programs” and his steady, timely messages during challenging situations. The board noted Larson’s regular presence at school and community events and his role supporting building leaders.
Larson, who said he is “used to being behind the camera and behind the scenes,” described the honor as humbling and said his favorite part of the job is “capturing just a glimpse of the magic that happens in our buildings every day.” Board members and staff applauded and posed briefly for photographs to share internally and on district channels.
The recognition came during the consent and informational portion of the meeting and did not require board action. The board routinely uses the Saint Star Award to acknowledge staff and community members whose work advances district priorities.
