The Simsbury Board of Finance approved a slate of motions and routine items on May 19.
The board unanimously authorized a pension plan experience study, directing the actuary to provide estimates for the annual required contribution by Dec. 26, 2026. Finance Director Amy Meriwether reported the cost is $14,000 per plan.
Public Works Director Tom Roy explained a crew leader truck replacement was not funded in the FY27 budget but could be purchased for FY26 using proceeds from recent trade‑ins and equipment sales. The Board approved a $63,100 supplemental appropriation to fund the purchase, with the purchase to be covered by sale revenue.
Other unanimous actions included approving the annual tax collector suspense list totaling $93,998.02 and authorizing Tax Collector Sherry Clemens to transfer those accounts to the Suspense Tax Book; appointing CliftonLarsonAllen LLP as the town’s auditors for the fiscal year audit ending 2025/2026; approving the Board of Finance Annual Report Statement for FY2024/2025; and adopting an amendment to the Board’s Rules of Procedure to require a public audience at all regular and special meetings and to limit speakers to three minutes.
The Board also approved the April 21 and April 29 meeting minutes and adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
