Board approves superintendent contract extension after robust debate; vote 6–1

Several board members urged a postponement to allow additional time for staff and community feedback and to review recent survey results. Those who urged delay cited limited circulation of the community survey and staff perspectives and said the public had not had adequate notice. Others, including members who referenced the superintendent's multi-year performance and the board's responsibility for evaluation, argued there was insufficient reason to delay and noted timing constraints tied to the fiscal calendar.

After discussion the board moved to approve the contract. The motion passed on a roll call vote, 6 in favor and 1 opposed. Board minutes recorded the dissenting vote and the board chair announced the motion carried.
