Milan proclaims Hungry Howie's 30th anniversary and signs off on fall DDA events

Mayor Ed Kolar presented a mayoral proclamation recognizing Hungry Howie's 30th anniversary during the June 2 Milan City Council meeting. The minutes note members of the Hungry Howie Shannon family attended and were acknowledged.
On the consent agenda, the council approved three special-event requests from the Milan Downtown Development Authority: a Beer Walk planned for Friday, Sept. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m.; a Girls Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Pop on Main/Small Business Saturday on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The consent motion was offered by Councilmember Gress, seconded by Councilmember Stafford, and recorded as carried.
Communications Director Jill Tewsley reminded the council that the "Live from Tolan Square" series begins this week and shared additional upcoming events. Councilmembers also used the reports section to thank public safety staff after the recent fair and to raise maintenance concerns about the Pickleball Court damaged during the fair; an inspection with the fair board president was scheduled.
The council adjourned at 8:07 p.m.; its next regular meeting is Tuesday, June 16, 2026, with an agenda-deadline of June 10.
