The City of Foley Planning Commission unanimously recommended rezoning a roughly 3-acre parcel at 1510 S. Juniper St. from R-2 (Residential Single Family and Duplex) to PO (Preferred Office District) during its March 18 meeting.
A resident, Wesley Cowan, attended the public hearing and said he lives north of the property but did not oppose the rezoning. A representative of Gulf Coast Therapy (not named in the minutes) said the practice has operated in Foley for 12 years, plans to provide one-on-one therapy with approximately two therapists, will not operate on holidays or weekends, and is preparing to make the rear of the building the main entrance; the representative said they would discuss fencing options with the neighbor. City Planner Miriam Boone told the commission that staff recommended approval and that a wetland delineation would be required prior to any development.
Commissioner Calvin Hare moved to recommend the requested rezoning to the Mayor and Council; Commissioner Phillip Hinesley seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
