Clanton City Council unanimously approves ABC license, YMCA splash pad agreement, state maintenance pact and senior center MOU

The Clanton City Council met at Clanton City Hall on April 27, 2026, and unanimously approved four resolutions addressing licensing, intergovernmental cooperation, and local recreation and senior services.
Mayor Jeff Price called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.; Fire Chief David Driver led the invocation and Mayor Price led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes from the April 13 regular meeting were approved by motion of Councilmember Don Driver and second by Councilmember Phillip Giles. No invoices were presented for approval and no members of the public addressed the council during the public-comment period.
The council adopted Resolution 2026-04-27-01 to approve an ABC license application filed by Chilton Biz LLC, which operates under the trade name Karls One Stop at 4000 7th Street N. Councilmember Billy Singleton moved to approve the resolution and Councilmember David McCary seconded; the motion passed by a unanimous voice vote of those members present.
The body then approved Resolution 2026-04-27-02, authorizing the 2026 Splash Pad Attendant Agreement with the YMCA of Chilton County. Councilmember Phillip Giles moved adoption and Councilmember Awlahjaday Agee seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Resolution 2026-04-27-03, authorizing a cooperative maintenance agreement with the State of Alabama, was moved by Councilmember Don Driver, seconded by Councilmember Awlahjaday Agee, and approved by unanimous voice vote.
Finally, the council adopted Resolution 2026-04-27-04 to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chilton County Board of Education concerning the senior center project. Councilmember Awlahjaday Agee moved the resolution, Councilmember Phillip Giles seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Jeff Price thanked the council for their support with the Board of Education on the senior center project. With no further business, the council adjourned at 5:07 p.m. Susie Ellison, City Clerk/Treasurer, is listed on the meeting record as the submitting official.
