Expo Center staff report ticket sales, unpaid catering invoice and facility repair needs

At the June 1 meeting of the Pittsburg County Economic Development Authority, Expo Center staff provided several operational updates and raised outstanding administrative and facility issues that trustees directed staff to follow up on.
Staff member Ragan reported that the recent mud bog event sold 120 tickets and “went well.” Ragan also said Shriner organizers will no longer operate the circus and that Angel will not bid on alcohol sales going forward. According to Ragan, Angel said she was not paid for catering on the next-to-last fight night; staff member Crenshaw advised that any unpaid catering invoice must be submitted for payment.
Ragan said she needs a clear breakdown of what costs the county will cover versus what River City Fights will be responsible for at an upcoming fight event. She also noted she is awaiting a structural engineer’s assessment for the arena jumbotron. Chairman Ross Selman said he would check with the CED about available structural engineering assistance. On the marquee, Crenshaw said she will obtain quotes; Selman observed that repair costs are approaching the price of a new marquee.
Those operational items were raised as informational matters rather than formal agenda actions; trustees asked staff to pursue the outstanding invoices, obtain repair quotes and report back with engineering information as available. The meeting record includes a purchase order report showing Expo M&O expenditures of $10,328.40 for June 1, 2026.
