Fire leadership and town staff described supply-chain timing that stretched delivery out multiple years; the board was told upfitting and minor additions may still be needed after delivery but that the quoted price covers the main build and most equipment. Members also discussed cardiac monitors, noting the units in service have been phased out by vendors and will require replacement on a separate timetable.
Supporters said familiarity with the vendor and vehicle performance on local terrain justified choosing the middle-priced bid rather than the lowest bid once equipment allowances were factored in. The board approved the purchase by voice vote.
The board did not record individual roll-call votes in the public portion; staff said procurement and delivery timelines will be coordinated with the fire department’s schedule.
