Audubon officials report tree plantings, park improvements and facility work; grant funding credited to congressional allocation

Mayor Robert J. Jakubowski told commissioners that about 30 trees were planted recently as part of a broader plan to plant 150 trees in coming years. He said 20–25 volunteers assisted and that funding came from a federal congressionally directed spending grant secured through Senator Cory Booker’s office. The minutes state the grant had been previously approved and described it as not retractable.

Commissioner Andrea Wendell reported a new pickleball court at Audubon Family Park and said the Public Works goal is to collect leaves at least once per week through mid-December; residents were reminded to place leaves on the curb strip and not in the street. Wendell also said the Senior Center lobby is under renovation with expected completion by the end of November and that most programs and meetings have been relocated temporarily.

Commissioner David F. Alemi reminded residents that taxes are due Nov. 1, 2025, with a 10-day grace period. The mayor also noted schedule adjustments: the caucus meeting moved because of the Nov. 4 general election, and the regular November commissioners' meeting moved because several officials will attend the New Jersey League of Municipalities conference. The minutes also advertise the Murray-Trout/Project Memorial 5K on Nov. 9.
