County cancels ballroom carpet solicitation after wide price variance

Jenny Bird explained the RFP closed May 8 and produced two proposals: Green River Construction at $73,310 and Basin Appliance at $198,370. She said the scoring committee and legal reviewed the submissions and determined "insufficient information was available to establish fair and reasonable pricing to adequately evaluate the proposals in relation to the project scope and current market conditions." Purchasing recommended rejecting all bids and either resoliciting, adjusting scope, or using a state contract vendor; staff noted the ordinance requires vendor notification and posting the cancellation to the county website but does not require formal commission action.
The commission acknowledged the cancellation and the meeting proceeded to other agenda items.
