The Court of Common Council on June 8, 2026 voted to refer a resolution (item 7.1) to establish a Hartford Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Governance Initiative and to adopt principles for the responsible use, procurement, transparency, oversight, accountability and governance of artificial intelligence technologies.
Councilwoman Mali Rosado and Council President TJ Clark were listed as sponsors of the resolution; the council recorded the referral by roll call. The council also scheduled a public hearing on the related municipal code amendment for Monday, June 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
The referral places the proposed initiative and the accompanying municipal code amendment into committee consideration and preserves an opportunity for public input at the June 15 hearing. No final policy adoption or ordinance passage occurred at the June 8 meeting; the council voted only to refer the resolution and set the hearing date.
The council adjourned after completing the session; next steps on the AI initiative will depend on committee review and any hearing testimony received on June 15.
