Supervisors approve sale of 1 acre and direct proceeds to county economic-development arm

Columbia County supervisors voted to authorize the sale of a 1-acre parcel adjoining Vendor Boulevard and to direct the Columbia County IDA to transfer the sale proceeds to Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC).
Mike Tucker, speaking as county and CEDC manager, said the parcel is a boundary adjustment drawn to accommodate an expansion by a local tent company and that part of the parcel includes wetlands. Tucker said the county had notified the state of its intent to dispose of the land in advance, noting the requirement to provide 90 days' notice before a sale and that sale timing can be constrained when the legislature is not in session.
Tucker described the proposed sale price at about $65,000 and said the parcel is not otherwise marketable as a standalone parcel because it lacks road frontage. A supervisor moved to authorize the chairman to transfer the one-acre parcel; another motion directed the IDA to transfer the sale proceeds to CEDC. Both motions were seconded and taken by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tally.
The board's action authorizes staff to proceed with the sale process, subject to any required state notifications and standard IDA and county procedures. The manager also said he would work with county counsel and staff to revise resolution language clarifying how sale proceeds are to be used by CEDC.
