Putnam County ratifies application to NY PLAYS for ADA playground improvements with $43,000 county match

The Putnam County Planning Department on May 19 ratified filing an application for grant funds under the New York Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization (NY PLAYS) initiative to revamp an existing playground to meet ADA standards.
Deputy Commissioner of DPW Joseph Bellucci said the plan calls for demolishing the current playground and replacing it with ADA-accessible equipment. When asked if the grant approval was likely, Bellucci said it is likely but not guaranteed. Legislator Montgomery noted the county match would be $43,000.
The committee pre-filed the necessary resolution to ratify the application; if the grant is awarded the county will be required to provide the match noted in the meeting.
