The Putnam County Physical Services Committee voted May 19 to pre-file a resolution to rename the sheriff's substation at 276 Main Street in Nelsonville as "The Kevin J. McConville Nelsonville Substation" to honor the late sheriff's service.
Undersheriff James Menton thanked DPW for design work and said the county is targeting Aug. 22 for an unveiling ceremony. Commissioner Thomas Feighery said DPW plans to use individual letters affixed to the building rather than a single sign and that a final price will be determined when the vendor provides the estimate.
The committee pre-filed the resolution by unanimous voice vote; the item will return with cost details before any funding is approved.
