The Burlington Economic Development Commission met April 21 and covered routine reports, a package of ongoing projects and initial planning for grant support.
In reports the commission recorded no new grant updates, noted that Crescent Manufacturing is expanding, and confirmed the EDC’s partnership with the Burlington & Central CT Chambers of Commerce on a restaurant recognition program. Commissioners also reported no recent contact with the Northwest CT Economic Development Commission.
Under old business the EDC noted two open commission seats and that the third draft of LiveFromBurlington.com was submitted last month; Town Hall had not returned notes as of the meeting. Commissioners reviewed a proposed refinement to sign regulations (Project I) and tabled a vote until the next meeting. For Project II (business attraction) the commission said a supplemental report to last month’s economic analysis will be submitted to Town Hall and that EDC members had been invited to meet with Simsbury EDC to discuss business attraction strategies.
In new business the commission began planning how it might support and execute incoming grant applications. Procedurally, the minutes record a motion to move Other Business under Public Comments and a motion to approve the March minutes; both motions were recorded as approved. The minutes do not provide vote tallies for those motions.
The meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m. The EDC listed its next meeting for May 19, 2026.
