Board approves FY27 salary increases, reviews capital projects and records sewer repair completion

The Dallas County Conservation Board approved the FY27 Conservation employee salary increases as submitted and authorized the chair to sign. Scott Hall moved and Dave Kraayenbrink seconded the motion, which carried with all members present voting "aye."
Director Curt Cable reviewed capital projects and equipment needs, noting purchases exceeding $10,000 will return to the board for approval. Cable described challenges with the Voas deck accessibility ramp and said he has submitted a variance request to the board of adjustment. He also reviewed the Stewart Property adjacent to the Kuehn property, which is currently rented and being held by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for the Conservation Board; discussion covered the house condition and potential repairs.
Cable reported on spring FY26 budget amendments, saying insurance line items will need increases because of rising costs and the addition of bridges; he is coordinating with the County Finance Director. Cable characterized the overall budget as in good condition once insurance amendments are made.
Under other business, Cable told the board that sewer-line work at Forest Park restrooms is complete; deteriorated tile was replaced with PVC at an estimated cost of $3,500.
