The Dallas County Board of Supervisors on June 2 approved several major construction pay applications and accepted completion milestones as multiple county building projects moved forward.
Turner Construction updated the board that the courthouse renovation is 69% complete; the project requires additional steel shoring to allow safe demolition on level 3 while preserving the large jury courtroom on level 4. Contractor Chad Lane said the completed structural work will leave the room’s load capacity unchanged. The board approved Pay Application #14 in the amount of $451,574.35.
The board also received an update that the evidence storage and firing range construction is about 79% complete and progressing on schedule. The board approved Pay Application #15 for $1,663,973.88.
Secondary Roads administrative addition work is nearly finished (reported 98% complete). The department has moved into the space and punch-list items remain. The board approved Pay Application #18 for $61,394.09 and approved the Certificate of Substantial Completion for the Secondary Roads addition, authorizing the chair to sign.
Turner Construction also reported six qualifying bid packages for the Adel EMS station project, with five to eleven potential bidders per package; the board discussed next steps for bidding.
All listed pay applications and certificates were approved by motions that passed unanimously.
