Wanda Farist, the applicant’s representative, confirmed the parcel would be divided among the owner’s remaining children and grandchildren. The public hearing opened and closed with no additional speakers. Board Member Larry Brown moved to accept staff’s recommendation; Board Member Karen Benson seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 5‑0.
The commission’s vote is a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners, which has final authority on rezonings. Director Charles Reese reiterated the commission’s role and noted the item will proceed to the Board for a final decision.
