Havana Community Development Corporation launches youth Junior NBA/WNBA program

Richardson said the league will be divided into three divisions — Rookies (7–8), Starters (9–11) and All-Stars (12–14) — and that the program aims to use sports to teach teamwork, respect and community development. He said the HCDC Sports Division is a 501(c)(3) organization that will accept donations to cover uniforms and equipment, and he asked for volunteers to serve as coaches, referees, scorekeepers and concession workers.
Richardson offered printed materials and a contact number for board members and community members interested in learning more. He said additional sports such as soccer, baseball and flag football may be added as the program grows and that tryout dates and locations will be publicized on social media and local news outlets.
The board received the information and accepted Richardson’s flyers for distribution.
