Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority approves EDU reduction, accepts treasurer reports and pays bills; operations updates noted

The Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority voted May 11 to reduce the equivalent dwelling units (EDUs) assigned to 1963 East High Street from three to one after Manager Edward C. Wagner reviewed water records showing average monthly usage far below the commercial allocation. Wagner said March usage was 115 gallons over 29 days and April usage was 150 gallons over 30 days; under DEP rules the commercial allowance can be up to 300 gallons, and the Authority approved Sean Pence’s motion to reduce the property’s allocation. Pence moved the change, Mark Loshnowsky seconded, and the motion passed 4-0. Solicitor Stephen Kalis will prepare the agreement to formalize the change.
The Authority also accepted Treasurer’s reports and authorized payment of capital and operating registers. Mr. McGeehan read the Treasurer’s report dated April 13, 2026 (operating accounts $4,379,333.86; capital accounts $1,320,930.41) and the April registers (capital $52,730.10; operating $43,249.68); the board voted 4-0 to pay the listed bills. Mr. McGeehan then read the Treasurer’s report dated May 11, 2026 (operating $3,879,432.91; capital $1,456,863.22) and the May operating register ($306,854.19); the board again voted 4-0 to approve the report and pay bills. Notable line items presented included a Borough of Pottstown contribution ($270,486.00), a UV system invoice ($38,040.00), and several engineering and maintenance invoices listed on the registers.
On operations, Sewer Operator Tim Watson reported work to replace manhole castings in coordination with paving on Lynn Drive, Brookside Road and Kenny Road. Watson also reported a second pump shaft failure at Sanatoga Lake; he said the shaft failed the same way as the earlier one, that the pump brand is KSB, and that staff are gathering pricing from suppliers and considering options including rebuilding or outsourcing replacement. Engineer Fred Ebert and staff discussed brand and options; no formal action was recorded on the pump issue.
Other motions: The Authority approved the March 9 meeting minutes (motion by Joe McGeehan, seconded by Joseph Groff) by a 5-0 vote earlier in the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2026, at the Township Building.
