The technology director said the Lenovo offers a laptop experience more consistent with current classroom setups (dual monitors and projector compatibility) compared with a Surface Pro tablet model piloted earlier. The plan includes USBC docking stations that would allow substitutes to plug in Chromebooks or other devices and maintain projected classroom connectivity, and the district would train teachers during the staged deployment.
Officials said the purchase would be funded with sinking-fund dollars and that the district would assess whether secretarial and other staff roles should be converted on a case-by-case basis. The board asked about ordering windows, docking-station standards and rollout across buildings; presenters said early adopters would be spread across all five district buildings to ease later waves.
