Gadsden schools highlight CTE awards, scholarships and tiny‑house build as students earn certifications

At the April 28 meeting the board heard presentations recognizing student essay winners and a sizable investment in career and technical education (CTE). Major Willie Jackson said the Secondary CTE programs received more than $134,000 for instructors and program award incentives and an additional $222,000 was awarded for the Academic Acceleration Option Supplement (industry certification).
Jackson said 30 students across Crossroad Academy Charter School and Gadsden County High School will receive dual‑enrollment certificates this year, and about 150 students will receive some form of industry certification. He named CTE award recipients from district schools and noted two fully funded scholarships that the board and superintendent can award to Gadsden County High School students to attend nursing or pharmacy technician programs.
Separately, Gadsden County Retired Educators Association representatives presented 5th‑grade essay contest participants and cash awards (1st place and state winner: Nia’London Brooke Reese; 2nd place: Peace Addison; 3rd place: Ray’Naya Richardson). Cornelius Pace presented personalized gifts to the superintendent and the board from production engineer students. Major Jackson also described a tiny house project (576 square feet) with an open house scheduled for May 9–10 and said the tiny house will go up for sale shortly.
The announcements highlighted recent investments in workforce pathways tied to local schools and the district’s CTE efforts.
