The Lake Placid Town Council unanimously appointed Chief of Police Mark Snyder as interim town administrator on June 8 after accepting the resignation of Town Administrator Charlotte Rodriguez, who gave a last day of July 10. Mayor Colleen Charles said the appointment would maintain continuity while staff prepares a job description for council review.
Council members moved and seconded the motion to appoint Snyder and authorized the mayor to prepare an interim job description and a plan for filling the town administrator role. Snyder, who the mayor described as having 28 years of institutional knowledge with the town, also told the council he would appoint an interim chief of police if he assumes the interim town administrator duties.
The council simultaneously authorized an update to the towns bank signatories to add Vice Mayor Ray Royce and Chief Snyder and to remove Charlotte Rodriguez; the town attorney said the bank required the names in the minutes. The votes on each motion were recorded as unanimous.
The mayor said staff will return with a formal job description and next steps at a subsequent meeting. The council emphasized that directors and staff will continue daily operations during the transition.
