An official representing the Sawyer County Economic Development Corporation said the organization has received approval for a Thrive grant and that a contract was signed and is awaiting counter-signature.
The speaker, who said they are about six weeks into the role, said they have met regional partners, attended northwest regional planning meetings, and worked with stakeholders to position the EDC for a strong future. They described branding and operational tasks underway, including new logos, letterhead and a website intended to support the planned DBA "Sawyer County EDC." The speaker said full incorporation paperwork will wait until the Thrive grant is fully finalized, expected after July.
Board members asked follow-up questions about regional meetings and expressed support for the approach. The representative said they will return with more updates as the grant and name-change processes conclude.
No formal board action was taken at the meeting on the EDC report.
