Audubon County adopts resolution vacating portion of 350th Street/Akron Road

Audubon County’s Board of Supervisors on Feb. 18 adopted Resolution No. 2025-8 ordering the vacation and closure of a roughly 1,951‑foot portion of 350th Street/Akron Road that crosses the Audubon–Cass County line.
The resolution describes the vacated segment as approximately 40 feet wide, containing about 1.69 acres of right-of-way in Audubon County and about 1.45 acres in Cass County. The board found the closure will not landlock any abutting land and that no occupied homesteads abut the portion to be vacated.
The resolution notes the bridge on the described section is “no longer safe for use” and records that Cass County intends to sell the bridge to the adjoining landowner, who would assume responsibility for it. The board passed the resolution and it was signed by Chair Heath Hansen.
The board’s action formalizes the joint decision first discussed at a Feb. 4 joint public hearing with Cass County and moves responsibility for the unsafe bridge to the adjoining landowner under Cass County’s plan.
