Longtime Forney ISD trustee steps down; Kathy Green appointed and new officer slate approved

In her remarks she praised Superintendent Dr. Justin Terry and described stepping down to allow a family member (her daughter) to be hired without perceived hiring barriers; she recommended retired educator and longtime volunteer Kathy Green to fill the vacancy.
Mr. Chad Johnson seconded the sentiment and formally moved to appoint Kathy Green to the vacancy created by the resignation; the motion received a second and the board approved the appointment by voice vote with no opposition. The newly appointed and elected board members signed certificates of election or appointment and then took the oath of office administered at the meeting.
Following the oath, Dr. Justin Terry convened the reorganization portion of the agenda and presented a slate of officers for the 2026–2027 year: Greg Ferris as president, Chad Johnson as vice president, and Katrina Balter (also referenced as Katrina Burke Halter in the record) as secretary. The board moved, seconded and approved the slate by voice vote.
Trustees publicly thanked Mrs. Dobs for two decades of service; no further personnel actions were taken during the meeting. The board confirmed that it will hold a budget workshop on June 22 and noted summer schedules and the July 2 office closure for the July 4 holiday observed on a weekend.
