Ashwaubenon update: Title VI EASIE grant credited with improved attendance and strong graduation results

Jayne Ryczkowski, the district'identified Native American Grant Coordinator and graduation coach for grades 9–12, presented an update on the district'administered Title VI EASIE Grant and described outcomes and planned activities tied to the 2025–26 grant year.
Ryczkowski said the U.S. Department of Education'funded grant serves 187 indigenous students from 12 Native American nations in the district and supports academic and cultural programming, including a First Nation Family Reading Night and a high school mural project. She told the board the program has been associated with increased attendance and noted a two-year, 100% graduation rate; this year 13 of 14 seniors are on track to graduate and many have been accepted into college.
The presentation described targeted interventions and partnership work: a Building Belonging mini grant will buy books for family reading events, Jayne and Angel Schwechler co-manage academic and cultural supports and they have formed a parent advisory committee. Ryczkowski described participation by students and staff in the Oneida Reading Summit as part of efforts to raise reading levels.
Superintendent Andy Bake praised Ryczkowski's work, saying she "has been instrumental in bringing people together to have the important conversations throughout the area." The board thanked Ryczkowski for the program and its results.
The board did not take formal action on the presentation; members moved on to other agenda items. Ryczkowski listed continuing goals for 2025–26 that include representation and professional development, enhanced social media and website outreach, and examination of graduation policy.
