Tom Schmitt presented bid samples and a project timeline, saying the current field has been in place for 13 years (he noted typical turf spans are 12–15 years). Schmitt thanked a fundraiser identified as Nick for raising $630,000 toward the project and said the district will use $116,727 from Fund 46 together with the fundraising to fully fund the replacement; any extra funds will be placed in a sinking fund. Schmitt told the board construction is scheduled to begin June 1 and be completed by the end of July, meaning summer‑school programs will not have access to the field during work.
The recommendation to accept the low base bid (categories A, B and C) was moved by Brian VanDeKreeke and seconded by Anderson; the motion passed 5-0 (Vyskocil, Garrigan, VandeWalle, Anderson, VanDeKreeke). The board recorded no objections. Keith Lucius was thanked for setting aside turf‑replacement funds in Fund 46.
The district will proceed with contract award and schedule coordination with Astro Turf Great Lakes to meet the June start date. The board did not identify additional permitting or external approvals as part of the discussion in the minutes.
