Parks staff reported routine maintenance updates and construction timelines for pools and park facilities during the Parks and Recreation Board meeting.
Director Tanya Bird reviewed the April Park Pulse packet and highlighted maintenance work and pools news: Hunter Pool is scheduled to open Saturday and staff are coordinating with the YMCA to provide lap swim times and swim lessons; finishing work on water slides may require contractors to work into Saturday and the Florida Department of Health must inspect the slides before they open. Bird said the Roger Scott pool bathroom building is expected to be delivered by the end of July and that site work and permitting continue.
Staff acknowledged some permitting and scheduling snags but said they had received key approvals (including a notice to commence for an unrelated Bay Bluffs project) and hoped to keep the Roger Scott bathroom installation to a brief on-site period once the pad is poured.
Board members had brief operational questions about pool schedules, parking feasibility studies at Woodland Heights and prior design decisions; staff said they would share details and flag items for the unfunded list if additional budget is needed. No formal votes were taken on these operational updates.
