Pensacola special magistrate orders $100-per-day fine for North 7th Avenue property

Special magistrate Jason Onaki granted a request on the record to impose a $100-per-day fine against a Pensacola property found in violation of local property-maintenance rules.

The action followed a presentation by Jason Hendricks, a city of Pensacola code enforcement officer, who said Case No. 254806 concerns a property in the 800 block of North 7th Avenue. Hendricks told the hearing the case had been found in violation at a March 3, 2026 Code Enforcement Authority hearing for International Property Maintenance Code section 308.1 (accumulation of rubbish or garbage) and Municipal Ordinances 4-4-11 and 14-4-3. Hendricks said one listed ordinance (4-4-5) had been brought into compliance. He presented photographs taken on March 3 and on the morning of the hearing and said the property “remains in violation.” Hendricks also stated that the photos he presented “are a true and accurate representation of what the property looks like today.”

Onaki said he had reviewed the March 3 hearing minutes and, after considering the evidence and applicable law, “I’m going to go ahead and grant the request in relief” and directed that an order be entered into the record confirming the imposition of a $100-per-day fine, to commence March 17, 2026, as previously ordered. The magistrate instructed staff to coordinate the entry of that order with the code enforcement team.

No one at the hearing asked to raise additional matters, and Hendricks confirmed there were no other items under the notification, requests to find code violations, or requests to increase fines or liens. Onaki adjourned the hearing at approximately 2:06 p.m.
