The Florence City Council adopted the official fiscal year 2026–27 budget and approved an amendment to the FY25–26 budget during Monday's meeting.
Mayor presented Ordinance O-16-2026 adopting the city's FY26-27 budget. Exhibit A was read aloud by fund; the mayor stated general fund estimated revenues and transfers of $53,597,000 and outlined fund balances and appropriations across municipal aid, infrastructure, water and sewer, World of Golf, and health/dental funds. After brief remarks noting prior workshops and public review, council voted to adopt the budget by roll call, 5-0.
Council also approved Ordinance O-15-2026 (Amendment #2 to FY25-26) to reflect temporary staffing in finance, reclassified costs offset to the water and sewer admin budget, an increase under miscellaneous to cover a Kentucky state sales and use tax liability "owed from diverted revenues related to the ongoing federal investigation," and adjustments to health/dental fund revenues and expenditures reflecting stop-loss reinsurance reimbursements. The amendment passed 5-0.
Council and staff emphasized the months of preparation, prior budget workshops and the availability of the complete budget book and exhibits at the city clerk's office for public inspection. The mayor said the city's financial position is strong and highlighted the implementation of a new public-facing transparency page.
