School board approves contracts, MOUs and policy updates; awards janitorial and ERATE contracts

The Lamar County School District Board of Education approved a series of consent agenda items at its May 11 meeting, including policy revisions, contracts, memoranda of understanding and updated student materials.
The board approved updates to employee policies (GBA: Professional Personnel Compensation; IHE: Promotion and Retention; JBCCB: Student Assignment to Classes; JBCD: Transfers & Withdrawals) and action to delete policy JBCDA, moving procedures into JBCD. The motions passed by unanimous vote.
Contract awards and memoranda of understanding approved by the board included:
- ERATE Category 2 project: award to Business Communications, Inc. (motion approved). - Janitorial services: award to PARCOU, LLC for district janitorial contract. - MOU: Southern Mississippi Planning & Development District (approved). - MOU: William Carey University for a dual-credit program agreement (approved).
The board also approved multiple procurement items presented by the purchasing officer and the business office for food service equipment, bus repairs, construction and other facility needs for the coming year. The business office noted alternative vendor quotes were reviewed for each purchase order and recommended awards were included in the consent agenda.
In addition the board approved the revised Student-Parent Handbook for the 2026–27 school year and confirmed recommendations for extended-school-year employees, summer-school and summer worker rosters. The motions were included in the consent agenda and passed unanimously.
Board members said the approvals were part of routine annual preparation for the 2026–27 school year and directed administrators to continue vendor due diligence and final contract execution by the business office. The board also set the next regular meetings for June 8 and July 20, 2026.
