Elizabeth Malik, a North Township resident, told the NLTUA board she reviewed a recent letter from Barb Connelly and expressed concern that several parcel splits (from Northport Point Road to Woolsey) may have been handled in error. Malik said the parent parcel for some divisions appears to have been taxed and deeded to properties on Northport Point Road and that resulting 'baby parcels' should have been assessed consistent with historical hookup practices.
“I really think this was a bait and switch,” Malik said, urging the authority to work with township and village officials so future splits are processed through a formal notification and sign‑off mechanism by local government.
Malik questioned whether hookup fees were being assessed correctly for the split parcels and asked the authority to do due diligence — including checking tax rolls and historical assessments — before approving or enabling connection agreements. She also noted that some of the rules governing allowed splits in the village are not clear to her and suggested a municipal oversight step would reduce errors and protect existing system resources.
The board acknowledged Malik’s comments but did not take formal action during this meeting; the authority’s staff and board members will consider public comments as they continue review of the capacity study and other agenda items.
