The Park County Advisory Board of the Environment reviewed a Conditional Use Permit application for a wedding venue (PZ 2026-0080) at its May 12, 2026 meeting and raised environmental and public‑safety concerns.
The board said CODEX (Colorado’s Conservation Data Explorer) screening data shows the site "to potentially be habitat to Mountain Plover," a species identified in the State Wildlife Action Plan, and recommended attendees be reminded to stay in developed areas to avoid disturbing any habitat. The board also urged wildfire mitigation planning given current wildfire concerns and the potential size of gatherings.
ABE members questioned whether the proposed vault toilets would be adequate if guest numbers reached about 150 and recommended that the applicant consider a professional field survey by a biologist before final approvals. The board used CODEX as a preliminary screening tool and noted it is not a substitute for site surveys.
Park County staff did not provide a final decision at the meeting; ABE’s comments were framed as recommendations for planners to consider as the review continues.
